Someone on the Fediverse recently mentioned El Segundo, and honestly the last time I thought of El Segundo in any way specifically was becaue of the the ATCQ song "I left my wallet in El Segundo."

@joy That's because there is literally nothing in El Segundo but LAX-adjacent office parks and (at one time) defense contractor offices.

@paninid @Viss Yeah, it's Qualcomm + hotels + a few misc other tech companies. No one actually lives there. The restaurants are just cater-to-office worker restaurants.

Oh, I know! I took a bus to work in an office next to the Chik-Fil-A on that map.
I’d just never thought of it as the El Segundo of San Diego!

@ai6yr @paninid @Viss cater-to-office-workers and weekenders. I went to a killer brunch buffet at the Karl Strauss there a number of years ago. I’m sure other restaurants in that area have similar weekend attractions (though I’ll admit I never really go there anymore except to visit my shaper, so I can’t speak confidently about this assumption)

The Flight Path “Walk of Fame” along Sepulvada Blvd isn't even El Segundo, it's the other LAX adjacent in Westminster.
But indeed, i remember lots of cold warrior Corp addresses being in El Segundo.
Was it things with wings to the north, and newer wingless things to the south?

@n1vux @ai6yr @joy I visited SpaceX (twice!) when they were in three dirty warehouses in El Segundo. They had to knock down a wall in one to get the first Falcon 9 out, and that's when they moved to the former 747 fuselage factory at Northrop Field.
