If you were raised on the bible and then left the church bc they don't actually believe what you were taught, you already know they use the big ol' book to justify whatever they want to believe and ignore everything else.

It's not the first time. They retconned Jesus a lot to sell Christianity to the Vikings for example. They don't care about the message, they care about control.

@nat I areligious, but I feel no one should feel forced out of their faith by others in their faith who cherry pick parts of the bible or other religious books.

I follow biblical scholar Dan McClennan on YouTube and his videos are always informative and thought-provoking.

He's not yet on Mastodon, but maybe he'll make his way over here.
