@Dolphinchaz

Lovely to see them so relaxed in the sun Charlie. Taken from offshore?

@tompearce49 Yes Tom, about a hundred yards away from them to avoid any disturbance, I was on the Dolphin Mischief RIB that goes out from Inverness Marina (they very generously give me the spare seat next to the skipper so I can work with the dolphins, but I do sing for my supper answering passengers questions) Taken at 500mm with a Canon R3 mirrorless body and RF 100-500mm lens.

@Dolphinchaz It's a lovely photo and I wouldn't manage to hold a 500mm lens steady! Thanks for posting!

@tompearce49 Thanks Tom,

I think that you would have no problem holding this 500 - it's very compact and light compared to the big old f4's, plus it has built in image stabilizing for shaky hands, an astonishing bit of kit, mind you, so it should be at the price.

I've been wondering about the effects of the port on them @Dolphinchaz

@scozmos I was very worried too Brian but taking photos nearly every trip (tide allowing) between spring and autumn for the past three years, I've seen very little actual disturbance as such. On one trip a loud bang from one of the huge machines sent a few into the sea but they soon came back out again. Don't know about effects of buried contaminants in the old port dredging's being released back into the environment though - that might be a problem.
