Apparently #SimpleXChat #SimpleX contains a whole lot of open source libraries and none of their licenses are complied with (except Boost). Someone brought this up to the creator, who said to sue him. So I wonder if any rightsholders of VLC, Samba, X11, Wayland, Qt5, Mesa, libarchive, Cairo, OpenSSL, fluidsynth, any codec distributed with VLC, or a bunch more, are reading this.

@immibis How are they not complied with? Is it because they're not GPL-compatible?
If we look at X11 license, which you mention, it is GPL-compatible according to the GNU license list.

@pelle You still have to obey the license terms: display the copyright notice.

@stf @pelle did I say there was? Why are you trying to defend a rich far right guy's violation of open source licenses by putting words in my mouth? Suspicious.

@stf The Jack Dorsey investment.
@immibis Please help us by sharing your knowledge. I don't want to promote another sketchy messenger app.
However, #SimpleX runs on widely-deployed decentralized free servers, in contrast to #Signal's over-the-wall open-source but centralized server.
I am in trouble because of #Signal playing it lose with phone numbers, while #SimpleX doesn't ask for personal info.
That makes #SimpleX look good, but you have reasons to avoid it, we would love if you'd share!

@pelle @immibis what? no. really? jack dorsey? wtf. didn't know. well, i have two reasons to avoid simplex, 1/ the huge supply chain attack surfeces (pun intended) that promises a "soon" instead of an "if", jian tan style. and the fact that group messaging cannot do a proper global transcript.
