I limit the number of hashtags I follow here to single numbers as I can't add hashtags to lists.
That means the output is all on the main following feed & I can't cope with the sensory overload.
eg, I'd like to follow #speccy #Spectrum #ZXSpectrum #ZX80 #ZX81 & have their output in my 8 Bit & Retrotech list, not on main. It's normal to do this with individual accounts/groups, but because I can't do it with lists I don't follow any of them.

@LiamGilmartin I was sad to see adding hashtags to list feature request closed as unplanned.
I've seen many requests for this feature in my feed.

@paul I think the request has been made a couple of times on Github. It's a shame really, it's not a huge adaptation and it would help thousands of people.

@LiamGilmartin yeah the ability to hyper control/parse the firehose of my main feed was one of the things that landed me on Friendica instead. Just found it easier to control for overload on it than on Masto based instances. The demotion of the feature you mentioned sounds like managing overload isn’t high on the priority list, which is unfortunate but predictable. Microblogging designs crave maximization of visibility, and letting people parse and filter granularly works against that core design tenant everyone seems obsessed with of “everybody should see everybody’s everything all the time!!” Like yeah no thanks.

@growfediverse Thank you, I have heard of Friendica but must confess I know little about it. I think I'll look into it, but I would be reluctant to leave my current instance.

@LiamGilmartin Use RSS. You can follow accounts or hashtags. You don't even need a Mastodon account to do so.

@timlocke Thank you, I had not considered that possibility.
