Free software has many more opponents than friends, so I understand why the FSF wants to take precautions. Let me take an example. It is quite unpopular, but vital, to refuse the advertisement of nonfree software to a free software audience. Now, such a strong statement would appear even stronger in a more open decision process. We should try and achieve that, and as far as I understand, the FSF takes steps in that direction. The best strategy is probably not “move as fast as possible” though.
