I remember the excitement in the 1970s when nuclear #fusion promised limitless clean safe power, then only 30 years away.

How far we’ve come since then!

UK Government announces £410 million of funding for a prototype reactor to be built by 2040, enabling research that could lead to limitless clean safe power.

While I do want research into fusion to keep going full tilt, I also see money that could have been dpent on building renewable energy that is already existing tech, and on bike & rail infra.

(Stop subsidies for the fossil fuel industry and there'd be a lot to invest in helpful stuff)
