Trying to convey earlier to a friend the fact that I was fuzzy headed in spite of having slept amazingly well, my brain iterated through “slept like the dead”, and “slept like a baby”.
Neither was sufficiently emphatic, so I ended up telling my friend I had “slept like a dead baby” - realizing even as the words came out that was very much not the right phrase.

@tenzochris it's a terrible phrase, true; but the act of sleeping solidly but still waking up fuzzy headed doesn't really have a good descriptor I'm aware of, and slept like a dead baby might just be it.
