@BrodieOnLinux

November 2020: the Servo project moved to the Linux Foundation, pretty quickly everyone understands that the project is abandoned.

September 2023: the Servo project joined Linux Foundation Europe, and is now one of the most active projects there.

January 2025: Google together with The Linux Foundation have announced a new initiative to fund future development of the Chromium ecosystem.

I wonder how independent Linux Foundation Europe is from the Linux Foundation?

@lebout2canap @BrodieOnLinux Not sure how big a role it played but the Servo project got some funding from the NLnet/NGI program, EU programming financing some Foss development.

Unfortunately NGI supposedly now cut all NLnet Foss funding to have more money to subsidies AI.

@truh I could of course be wrong, but I am less pessimistic: at some point shareholders will have to get their return on investment, and they are starting to get impatient, even OpenAI is not profitable.
