"Smaller teams maximize trust ...A crucial part of the team-first approach is that teams should be atomic, which means people are part of one & only one team. People cannot belong to more teams. Asking someone to split their time between two - or more! - teams is like trying to transplant an organ onto two different bodies: a Frankenstein creation. It also creates unnecessary dependencies between teams due to the reduced availability of that person for each team they are supposed to be part of."
