One reason Skeleton Crew works so well is due to RESTRAINT.
There was no shocking reveal. The story lead to a natural—yet still exciting and satisfying—conclusion.
There’s no secret Jedi order living beneath At Attin (lol). Plot points set up earlier are resolved. No, Wim doesn’t use the Force. Somehow Palpatine doesn’t return.
And personally, I love how it leaves itself open to more stories—whether canon or our own legends.

@cassidy This is something I said to my wife when it was over... the ending didn't surprise me, but I still enjoyed it a lot.
Part of me wanted a pirate with a heart of gold turn-around from Jod, but that was probably too cliche. I was happy with that outcome.

@raven yeah, it was almost more surprising that we didn’t get an obvious change of heart from him. But he's a pirate and—Disney or not—he’s gonna pirate.
I also like that it lets future stories—whether from this same team or not—explore that. For this story, the good guys saved the day, the kids had their adventure and taught the grown-ups an important lesson about the world. But their adventure is over.
Now it’s up to others to tell more tales.
