Is there something odd in the Mastodon server for infosec.exchange, @support @jerry ?

I have only chosen a handful of selected languages in Preferences -> Other -> Filter languages .... but I get posts in the Home section from all kinds of languages regardless. It didn't use to be that way before.

What did I do wrong?

@dazo @support mastodon doesn’t auto detect the language someone uses and too many people will tag their post as one language and write in another language. If you look for the language tag (upper right of a post in your timeline next to the little globe), do you see any that are not the languages you’ve selected?

Here is a post in French, and I have not selected that language in my preferences.

I don't find the language tag on my end, but clicking "Reply" ends up with French as the reply language automatically.

@dazo @support ok. It is possible some new bug got introduced in the update I applied yesterday. I will try to nail down what is going wrong in the morning and try to get some assistance from the mastodon developers.

Thanks a lot! It started happening about 7-10 days ago or so. I didn't think too much of it in the beginning, as I know some posts are wrongly marked.

But then a pattern began to appear, as languages I've never seen in my streams before started appearing.

@dazo @support what languages do you have selected? And are you seeing this in all timelines or just home? (For example if you go look at the “other servers” timeline, do you see posts tagged with languages other than what you selected?

I spend most of my time in "Home", but I do see it happening in "Other servers" in the "Live feeds" as well. Your instance is has mostly English posts, so it's not that often I spot it there.
