had a couple conversations recently w/ people who use genAI because they don't consider themselves artists, or say it's bad but use it for inspiration
it's depressing to me to see art has the same problem as music: it's much easier for big corporate interests to find their way to people than indies
& these big products are so polished, as a product of years of work from 100s, that people seem to have a sense of perfectionism preventing them from enjoying the initial "be bad at it" phase of art

so rather than repeating the same arguments against AI endlessly (which is a kind of free publicity for it that is geared for virality) I think we really need to be making it easier to find alternatives, whether by building new apps or just sharing stuff
