A brilliant programmer and cherished member of our community, Brendan was a core contributor to Perl and someone who stood firmly by his principles throughout his career. @armurray Lovely tribute. We shared so much with the Scala and hockey and pets, I had forgotten the Perl. Absolutely heartbreaking.

@ross @armurray Oh, no. I’m not sure Brendan and I ever met in person but I always looked forward to trading some hockey taunts or just a funny little exchange. It wasn’t often but I felt privileged every time we exchanged words.

I met Brendan only once, at ScalaIO in Paris (don’t remember the exact date) but I'll miss his funny memes and snarky and insightful comments on tech, people and life.
