A bit ago, I wrote about thinking of moving my old defunct site away from WordPress to Ghost... So I did! 😎
Some small things left to do--like actually writing 🙃
But hey! At least I've got something running now that is more fun and inviting to do so!

@frenck ziet er goed uit.
Is dat gemakkelijk op te zetten?

@huizebruin Ja was goed te doen eigenlijk 👍
Veel minder opties en mogelijkheden in vergelijking met WordPress... wat eigenlijk een dikke +plus is!

@frenck
Ik zit nog met mijn woocommerce shop .
Voor o.a de s0tool en andere PCBs.
Maar misschien eerst een test opbouw thuis opzetten om te zien wat er allemaal mogelijk is.

@frenck Did you choose to go the selfhosted route or are you using their cloud offering?

@jgkawell At first, I went the self-hosting route.
I did the whole enchilada—setting up VMs, backups, mailgun, you name it! It works great, and I can really recommend it! It's well-documented!
When I finished that, I realized I didn't want to maintain that stuff; I should focus on writing instead.
I moved to ghost.org after that. Supporting their project is also a win-win for me, to be honest. As an open sourcerer myself, I feel like it is important to support them as well.

@frenck Yeah that was why I asked. I'm currently managing a couple sites (using Hugo but very similar to Ghost) with the whole Mailgun, database, backups and everything. It is tough to prioritize when to do it yourself and when to outsource.
I tend to drift to the self-hosted route but I'm biased because I'm building an open-source self-hosting platform right now so it's kind of my whole thing haha
I can't agree more about supporting them financially. We need to fund these great open projects.
