I've been out on medical leave from work following major surgery since Dec. 9. Today is Jan. 14. My claim for short term disability leave is still not sorted, which means I've received only about 25% of the pay owed to me during this time.
I am a lawyer with expertise in employment law. I am also well compensated, and have meaningful savings to lean back on for my expenses while this gets resolved.
My recovery hasn't been a cakewalk, but it certainly hasn't been easy. This has taken meaningful energy and time away from my recovery.

so how are people who are not employment lawyers, with a cushion of savings, and dealing with a severe disability managing this?!
