@lukeharby Am I assuming right that you didn't just install the Promoter theme but also did some customization? Looking at https://wordpress.org/themes/promoter/ you at least have activated another style variation. When you switch to the child theme those customizations are not active any more and you are building from the default-state of the parent theme.

You probably need to familiarize yourself with how modern block based themes, such as Promoter, work nowadays. This is quite different from classic themes.

I really appreciate the feedback. Just didn't want to switch to the child and then start resetting stuff if we needed to switch back to the parent.

@lukeharby You might want to have a look at https://wordpress.org/plugins/create-block-theme/ which might be able to extract the changes into a child theme. As usual: Full backups of filesystem and database before you do any such major changes.
