It's been a bit of a Tale of Two Open Source Projects these last 24 hours.
On the one hand, you have Eugen Rochko/Gargron ceding control of Mastodon to a non-profit. On the other, you have Matt Mullenweg further escalating his colossal public tantrum by banning people who talk about forking WordPress.
So much in this world of technology depends on personalities, doesn't it?

The latter seems to end up as a bigger talking point which impacts the reputation of free and open source communities.
Is there some more info on what is going on at Mastodon, partly as if we focus on the positive stories it really helps, people don't want to hear / read about infighting.
