The honking mechanism in Gus’ favourite toy ever, mallard, (pictured below) finally died, so I bought him a replacement from the same store.

Well! They sent me a MALLARD IMPOSTER. This shitty thing has a squeaker, not a honker, and he’s fond of it… but it’s not the same intense excitement of the OG mallard.

Now I’ve gotta drive around all the pet shops this week squeezing toys until I find the right replacement smh.

Top one is old mallard, bottom one is squeaky mallard and the middle two are new today and make the right sounds 🎉

Tbh none of them are as easy to honk in quick succession (like in the video) but I’m hoping they become more honk-able after some use? I don’t remember if the original one was stiff when we first bought it or not. Fingers crossed!

Favourite is the mallard, even though it’s harder to honk than than the goose. I think something about the colour is just so appealing? Anyway, he tried to give it to the cat this morning to play with. Dropped it at his feet then stood back all “look! You can play too!”
