“Ruthless” cuts to public sector, but “multi-billion contracts” for nuclear reactors & infrastructure for fucking AI.

Opening up NHS data, because in Starmer’s words “the AI industry needs a government that is on their side”.

The other side here is: human beings, the climate, privacy, and basic realities of what AI actually is and can do.

They’re literally making a ‘National Data Library’ of citizen data for the industry.

I’m disgusted and furious.

What makes all this extra fucked to me is their Online Safety Bill makes it impractical for anyone to try anything innovative (look at the requirements for even a forum, imagine something like Mastodon).

Silicon Valley & big tech, meanwhile, actively work to break everything - including democracy and the environment - and get tax-payer-funded infrastructure and compliant regulators.

It’s beyond a joke. (1/2)

The one tech project Labour cut funding for was the supercomputer at Edinburgh uni. It was apparently bad because it would be used for “traditional computing projects such as scientific simulations”. Who’d want to use a computer for fucking science, when it could be used to steal everything humans have ever made and destroy the livelihoods of millions?

Then again, it could have made Scotland look good, and they definitely don't want that. (2/2)
