@timbray as I read that piece while on my lunch break sitting at my workplace, I'm wondering if I could write something similar about the ways that data reports have evolved/devolved over my career.

I first saw data reports on fanfold 19inch "computer paper" and after multiple changes we're now shunting data from back ends into dashboards of web gadgets and proprietary front ends like PowerBI.

But what have been the semantic paradigm shifts and is the result actually any better?
