Has anyone experience with the Flarum forum software? Interested in some #FOSS forum software that is newbie friendly and reliable.
Would this be easy to install on a self-hosted domain with mySQL and PHP available?

@Kobiac I wont ever host php+mysql software, but its ok as far that generation of forum is.
You can sign up to giffgaff forum and you'll have an idea of what a highly customised instance can look like.
It certainly doesn't containerise too well last I look 4 year ago.

@Kobiac i would recommend this is you just want Q&A and have a VPS (which I am aware is not the question you asked): https://answer.apache.org/
Single binary, decent (customisable) interface, moderation of it is ok.

@mxfraud Looks interesting. I'm looking for something that could work as a community hub for a game (and is not Discord).

@Kobiac I've been looking at something similar to plug the same gap and its been really hard to find.
So if you do find alternatives that really work for you, I'd love to know.
Also I didn't mention, but if you are into the php ecosystem, it seems that phpbb is still going strong nowadays.
If you don't mind the setup (rails,postgres,redis), loads people settled on discourse as forum software. They also succumbed to the AI nonsense.

@Kobiac
Really easy to install and update.
Also, it's available on #Yunohost

What is a "web hotel" domain?

@lautreg@pouet.chapril.org@pouet.chapril.org Thanks, will look it up. I edited the post and removed «web hotel». It’s a Norwegian expression referring to a self-hosted domain with storage space and opportunities to install web applications (like a blog, or a forum).
