Just in case you might still be tempted to visit Florida: Independent police review boards are now banned by state law. Police corruption and misconduct are now regulated only by police themselves. So you'll need to decide how lucky you feel travelling there. Because if you get UNlucky, there's not a lot to protect you.

@wesdym @PeterLG The only way I’ll be visiting Florida is if I’m kidnapped and taken there.

@aral @PeterLG A version of that has happened to a couple of our employees who used to live there. Southern counties are often corrupt and hard up, so sometimes they contrive legal extradition, magically resolved with enough money, if they can work up some plausible reason for it. The more you've been there, the more chances there are for such a reason to exist. Florida can bag you for things like using the 'wrong' restroom or even a driver's license lawfully issued to you by your state.

@wesdym Oh, I’ve long since cancelled any plans to visit that state. They’ve seen the last dime from me. I’ve literally altered vacation plans because of what has been going on there.
