Casting on some new socks I wanted to make because a Knit Picks sale on Felici handed me a "Gotta get it" colorway.

This is Elementary Watson pattern by Sherry Menton using Knit Picks Felici fingering weight yarn in color "Silent Film". There should be enough for me to get mid calf socks out of it.

This "Two pasties" stage is what happens after you do a Judy's Magic Cast On and do increases every other row before starting the pattern.

@epilonious Sock knitting question : is the two-socks-at-the-time-on-2-circulars method less prone to laddering ?

@CypherSephiroth

I've never really had laddering problems on socks but usually because the yarn (wool/nylon fingering) and needles (size 2 steel chiaogoo) are so small that my usual death grip prevents it. To be fair, however, I have never tried socks on DPNs or one-at-a-time, so I have nothing to compare-to.

Once I go up to cotton/modal worsted yarn on a circular size 7, I have to pay a LOT more attention to tension... or just go "It's handmade and imperfect KnitYOLO"

@CypherSephiroth considering more, Usually I get laddering when I'm not careful working flat stockinette stitch; faffing tension as I work a knit side versus a purl side. Socks worked in the round it's harder to ladder just because you are always knitting (around and around and around).

The only place one needs to be careful in this pattern is the little stockinette back-n-forth trapezoidal flap for the fleegle heel... And I haven't seen a sock pattern without short rows in the heel turn.
