I did it: Account scheduled for deletion

It took me about half a day to delete all my friends, photos, videos, profile info, pages, etc. but it's done, I've pushed the delete button and in two weeks time my Facebook account will be gone, gone, gone, forever.

@clayrivers Yes, that’s even better because you can install the plugins you want. I will send you links to the ones I am using. The main one is the ActivityPub plugin.

@clayrivers This one us all you need strictly speaking, it enables ActivityPub which Mastodon and the fediverse use: https://wordpress.org/plugins/activitypub/

A good one to install as well and s tge Friends plugin which lets you follow others: https://wordpress.org/plugins/friends/

This one is nice to have because it lets you share a mice info page like you have for your profile on Mastodon: https://wordpress.org/plugins/nodeinfo/

There are other plugins but those three are all you really need.

@dhuyvetter Dimitri, thanks so much for the links to the plug-ins. Now I’m all wondering if I want my posts accessible to the whole Fediverse. Especially now, given the veritable free rein handed over to a certain segment of the population. ActivityPub only pushes the stuff out there that’s published after it’s activated, right? And really, to whom?

@clayrivers It works the same as Mastodon: shared with those who follow your account. And if it is not public on your WordPress it won’t publish. I’m not sure if it is possible to have to approve followers first. I will have a look at that.

@clayrivers Your blog will become an instance on the fediverse just like mastodon.social or mastodon.world are but other instances won’t know it exists untill someone follows you. Anything e can find you if tgey search for @clay@yourblog.com and if someone boosts you it eill ge visible to anyone who follows their account. I am not 100% sure if hashtags work the same as on Mastodon but if you use tags in Wordpress they’ll show up as hashtags.
