This more or less goes without saying, but the changes to moderation rules on places like Facebook are a multi-pronged attack on queer people. To the extent that FB is useful, it’s through the fact that “everybody” is there, and can be connected with. When it’s rendered inhospitable to a minority, then “everybody” doesn’t include that minority. 1/3

It makes the minority less visible — possibly utterly invisible — to the majority, and it simultaneously robs the minority of the benefits of connection to other people (both people of the majority AND other minority community members). It serves to further isolate the minority and robs them of support and resources. It is violent and bullying behavior.

Staying on FB means you are drinking at a nazi bar, and leaving means isolating yourself from the “benefits” of the platforms connections. 2/3
