@soatok I don’t hate AI. I believe there are lots of places where machine learning really is the best tool for the job, including in my PhD thesis. It’s just a coincidence that 99% of things with AI in their branding are doing things I hate.

@david_chisnall @soatok I really don't like that the term "AI" has become so ambiguous now that people don't understand there's a difference between the tools that actually do help in real ways in fields like science and medicine, and these LLM's and other “generative AI" slop generators that for the most part just remix and vomit out work others have done. To most people they are all just “AI”.
