Who was stupid enough to chose the "left" as a name for a political wing?
Why don't we call the "right-wing" the "oil-wing" or the "plague-wing"?

From the olden days, when media was on paper, I subscribed to a small PNW environmental politics zine that used this method
Instead of referring to a senator as Jones (R-WA)
[Meaning Republican representative of Washington, in mainstream media parlance]
They would say Jones (R- Weyerhaueser)
They published extensive details on politicians' connections, to back this up. They would tell you that Jones was on the board of the Timber Farmers Association, and that her daughter was married to the son of the chairman of the board of Weyerhaueser, or whatever
It was all quite eye-opening
