Fellow #neurodivergent ppl. The other day my mother said about me being autistic that "my problem was", and the I burst and exploded telling her that my problem is having to take pills for the blood pressure or because my fucking kidney makes stones, but considering me having a problem for being autistic is not nice. She said I'm always mad and on my nerves and unreasonable and also she can't talk to me anymore cause I'm always on edge... Do you think I overreacted? I think if my own parents don't even try to understand me, they never have BTW, what's the point? Let me know what you think on the comments below.

@Khayman So, I'm not (so far I know ND) but... Everyone has problems with Parents... particularly when they're not open minded and far-right-extremists... and somewhat homophobic...

If it is too toxic or impossible to have a conversation, maybe taking distance is better for you and your health...

My parents have neglected me, not accepting me in any way and were also jealous of me!

I've heard the same things you heard... At a point, I couldn't anymore carry out that situation and I made a radical decision : cutting bridges totally.

Since that decision, I feel lots better.

I can't say you overreacted, sometimes we accumulate so much pressure that it has to go away and it can be very violent (I experimented that myself).

Have a good day!

@Eric_ours_polaire the thing is the wording. It hurts. And they don't understand. Mostly her. My dad is OK as long as I'm productive and happy. She takes everything as it's her fault. Like if I'm gay it's because she didn't do something, if I'm autistic it's because she didn't do something right. It's exhausting.

@Khayman Well, it's alas a "usual" reaction from Mothers... In my case, it is not, my mother is just a "Nazi" in a woman corpse... and she rejected me...

I suffered from all this long years of childhood and long time, it was a problem in my social life...

I'm afraid, you can't do anything... If she/they don't want to try to understand and see things as they are, it won't be no solution as taking the large (for a moment, or for a while...)

I can understand that it hurts, even if in my case, I can look at this with cold eyes... It no more affects me since I decided it'll affect me.

I'm certainly not the best person to help you here...

I'm someone pretty "cold" and distant, that's my way to preserve me from annoying people. If it is a good solution, I don't know but it work for me and can go on.

@Eric_ours_polaire I'm the same. In my case it was my grandmother. And my relatives don't like when I say she is in hell, because they never had to endure her. So I tend to be alone and off of them and they don't understand. Being autistic helps as an excuse for that but not enough.

@Khayman In the contrary to you, my Grand-Mother (mother side) was my only ally and she was very open minded (maybe because she suffered a lot in her whole llife).

I would say : use your "autistic" side to get rid off all this and don't be ashamed to to so. We shouldn't be ashamed to do something that help us to get better. ๐Ÿ™‚

@Eric_ours_polaire definitely. For me it was such a relief as I could understand why I got so anxious and upset so often.
