There's a 2 meter 14 element beam in my area for $55. Tempting...

@arth Good fun to be had but the antenna is the least of the cost. My 9 el yagi was a freebie, I gave $50 for my 2nd hand tower, probably put $2000 boring rock holes for the tower legs, expanding grout, concrete & rebar. If you have a tower, go for it.

@weezmgk@mastodon.social I DO have a tower, a 50 ft free standing crank up, but it's still on the ground and will stay there until after I move. It was a freebie because the ham I got it from just wanted it out of his way.

When I get it to the new location, I'll be putting a hex beam on top and hang my end-fed from it too. I'm seriously considering picking up this yagi and it'll go up there too, right above the hex.

You have a nice set-up there. What's that square box up on the tower? I can't figure out what that is.

@arth The gin pole has a cheap 4WD winch on it, covered by an old wastebasket with a notch for the arm. More photos of the tower stacking on my VK2AAF page on QRZ
