@mischievoustomato this kind of creator generally get in because he was not gatekept and they are emboldened by a vocal minority portion of the community who was also not gatekept.

Current D&D guys are literally spitting on Gary Gigax grave and image. And I mean literally, there are articles written by current D&D authors, and if I'm not mistaken even a preface on the 5e Players Handbook calling Gary Gigax an evil racist misogynistic white guy and saying that the RPG roots are "too white".

You would never have seen Monte Cook, Skip Williams or another of the "old school" authors do something like that.

@Suzu goblins are attacking the village because THEY ARE GOBLINS and IT IS WHAT THEY DO why can't it be that simple? they are agents of evil and chaos.

at BEST, goblins serve something else. they might serve some orcs who have higher capacity for thinking, or dragons who they worship that offer them safety in return for demanding riches be brought to them (and every now and then one of them gets eaten but whatever). they are little shitlets that are supposed to be fodder creatures.

gone is all of the actual lore here, all you get is the stat block and "idk do whatever the fuck you want with them as long as it's kind of fruity"

and that can be seen 100% in the player races too. sorry sorry, i mean SPECIES. we can't say races anymore because that's racist or something. these people are absolutely insane.

@cough @Suzu 4e actually had succubi as devils, but incubi were demons. (Non-D&D players: yes, there is a difference) I actually made a plot point around this in the campaign I ran, but it mostly ended up as an excuse to let players indulge in monstergirl fun.
