Well, I can add "emergency window frame/caulk/sealant repair" to my skill list.
Between the cold (currently 16℉), snowfall (probably two feet since Saturday), and shitty attic insulation I think some ice dams formed in exactly the wrong place, and broke through the 25 year old window sealant. I had a steady drip coming in through the top of my window frame.
Thankfully I had a tube of white caulk in the basement, and the tools to clean out some of the old sealant enough to get a new bead in as an emergency patch.
And if I'd gone to bed at a "decent" hour, I wouldn't have caught it and the damage would have been much, much worse. Take that, Mom!
