@scalzi
Just put me in cryostasis, maybe when they thaw me out in 100 years the price of a current-gen video card might be lower than the return on one of my kidneys.

@scalzi I think I have skipped four generations so far, and it is doing wonders for my wallet. :-)

@scalzi I'd like to get one, but I'd also like to not sell a kidney.

@scalzi I've been having decent luck with "nab whatever looks solid in the year prior to The New Hotness" each time I do a major upgrade and it seems to be working out, between my needs and recent stuff's capabilities.
It's nice being able to look back that far, skip over the new-release price-gouging, and still usually get things that will work out just fine for several years. Definitely beats the era where if something wasn't brand new it was a doorstop tha wouldn't run anything.

@scalzi Yeah I feel ya - I was still on a 2070 until last year! When I finally decided to upgrade I got an AMD. Not my first AMD, but I'm usually an nVidia buyer.
No regrets about getting a 7800 for 2k and VR gaming though. I'm playing Star Wars Outlaws on max settings perfectly.
