@forgejo Is federated forging still planned at some point?

@jodhus @forgejo I've been finishing, automating, calling for help on all my Forgejo duties a lot in the past months (releases & devops). It is a very time consuming.

I want and will contribute to federating Forgejo (which requires data portability) and not start any other work: there is nothing more important.

I sincerely hope other people will beat me to it and that federated forges will beome a reality without my help. But it's been lagging for years so... maybe not 😁

@earlwarren @forgejo When Forgejo first launched, I remember it was talked about a lot and I was really excited to see it happen. I haven't been keeping track of the development progress in a long time and just noticed it was not even mentioned in the monthly update so I was curious to see if it was still a "thing".

If I had any experience in Golang and understanding of the ActivityPub spec, I'd assist in a heartbeat. Regardless, I am most appreciative of your efforts and hope to see it come to fruition one day. Thanks! 😃

@jodhus @forgejo @earlwarren

Yes it's still actively developed.

The protocol itself (on a separate forgefed repo), and the implementation (inside forgejo's code, but not yet active).

However there's a lot to do, figure out how to do it, as it'll be difficult to modify later, and there aren't many people on it.

Contributing to forgejo is also a way to contribute to forgefed imo, make the project live, allow them to focus only on forgefed

But yeah, can't wait !
