While I'm only an occasional participant in #bikenite, I do enjoy seeing people's rides. I finally got around to writing a little about my light configuration on my non-electric bike: https://thzinc.com/2025/01/06/bright-ground-and-area-bike-lighting.html

@thzinc @yanto /sub US both.

What kind of power draw, life are you getting? Do you have a voltage regulator, BMS? Do you have a night time overhead shot of how the "pool of light" effect looks? What sort of waterproof battery connector is that? Do you have trouble with dirt being thrown up onto that downward facing light strip? The bottom of my BB is always brown with road grime, for example.

@trouble @yanto

Do you have a voltage regulator, BMS?

No. I was a little lazy and just roughly matched the total voltage to the LED strip's forward voltage.

I have a nice battery charger for my collection of 18650s, so the battery pack is simply a holder. When I charge the batteries, I pull them out of the pack and put them into the charging unit individually.

About that battery charger. Off the shelf (if so, a link?) or DIY (diagream?)?

@Iragersh @trouble @yanto I have three of these throughout the house. I charge both 18650s and NiCd AAs with them: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07JD77LVD

@thzinc @trouble @yanto thank you so much. I have a very old Radio Shack nickel metal hydride charger. Very limited.
