@copystar I got the Hyundai Kona. I also looked at the VW ID.4, but it's just so huge. A friend just got one of the Kia's. My primary criteria were range, ability to fit my bike in the trunk, and physical buttons on the console.

@djfiander Thanks! We are still in the process of electrifying our garage and haven't done much test driving other than the Hyundai Ioniq for funsies

@copystar The Ioniq seems pretty nice, but the '24 models are 100% touch screen, which cut it from the competition.

Also, I hate car shopping, so I stopped looking when I found one I could afford that met my needs.

@djfiander @copystar I mean not in any serious way - no garage, no way to electric something at home - but as a Maybe Someday.

@adr @djfiander I hear ya. I got sucked in by Verge writing so fondly about the ioniq. I do like the fact that you can use it as a very large portable battery off the grid

@copystar @adr The Kona can do that too, but it's not quite as convenient (you have to buy an accessory to use the charging port as an outlet).

@adr @copystar Apparently Huyndai is starting to move back towards physical buttons in all their cars, but I was on a tight timeline, and couldn't wait for the new model year Ioniqs to find out. Also, smaller cars are just better.

@djfiander @adr co-signed on both the buttons and fact that cars now are soooo big. My station wagon is smaller than most cars these days

@djfiander I have only bought one car in my life and that was in the year 2000 and I am still driving it. I'm finally car shopping only because we can no longer find proper replacement hubs for our station wagon and I hate driving around without hubcaps like a chump

@copystar Oh, my Corolla was 17 years old when I was involved in an accident and the insurance company wrote it off.

Be prepared for a lot of future shock regardless of what car you buy.
