@alisynthesis sometime in 2022, ezra klein had a researcher on his podcast who studies the impact of tech on reading. She had decided to go back and read Hesse's "The Glass Bead Game", which had been a formative book when she was young(er). She described how it took her 3 attempts to get started because the actual process & experience of reading "literature" was so different than her normal daily reading.
