For many Britons the NHS is like a religion. It's the best, because is British and nobody is allowed to criticize it, especially if they themselves aren't British.
But the truth is, the NHS is falling apart left and right. And the corrupt politicians are after it too.

FWIW when I worked in Paris the daughter of one of my French colleagues was studying in Britain. Without exception all the non-Brits returned home to see a doctor (mid-90s).
In 1991 I took a Dutch friend, a health economist, to a meeting at the Hammersmith Hospital He was seething on the way back to Heathrow, that such a prestigious institution had such crap facilities.
French & Spanish healthcare systems have looked after relations very well.
