@mekkaokereke

My real problem is that Belichick left that roster a mess, especially at OL where he struggled to hit on guys without Dante Scarnecchia. Hell, they never won a Super Bowl without him there!

Add in the Mac Jones disaster and regularly downgrading much of the defensive front 7 with guys "good enough" but not quite what they had before, and the roster was 2-3 seasons from being a competitive squad again.

Not fair for Mayo to shoulder the blame for all that.

@mekkaokereke I still remember that amazing 11-5 season. That's how hard it is being a Cleveland fan.

@mekkaokereke

Interesting to see if the GM gets fired as well. That team had little talent.

What are you're thoughts on how Mayo was hired?

@lawrence_stevens

Circumvention of the Rooney rule is bad, but not as bad as sham interviews when you have absolutely no intention of hiring that person anyway. 🤷🏿‍♂️

Teams will continue not giving Black coaches a chance, until the same thing that happened with QBs, happens to coaches: It eventually became a competitive disadvantage to apply an anti-Black filter on quarterbackacks.

Andy Reid(white) is considered the top coach in the NFL for the third consecutive year. His quarterback is Patrick Mahomes (Black). He also signed Michael Vick (Black) and Donovan McNabb (Black). Andy Reid is not trying to get invited to the cookout. He's just trying to win (more) Superbowls, and he sees his competition foolishly passing over talent that can get him there. "More for me!" he says.

When there are more GMs that look at coaches the way that a coach like Andy Reid looks at quarterbacks, then there will be more Black head coaches in the NFL. Until then, the league will keep "one and done-ing" Black coaches.

@mekkaokereke

I do think :

Regardless, the Process that the Patriots employed in picking their Head Coach was again flawed and has being called out in Boston.

Until this team does a thorough search for a HC, they are likely to have the same problem. Vrabel may work out, but it would be through luck and not skill.

@mekkaokereke To add to this, now the Titans have fired their Black GM but kept the white coach, and the Raiders have done the opposite - fired the Black coach and kept the white GM. It is like there is a pattern....

@Brad_Rosenheim @mekkaokereke the Colts have had the same white GM and white coach for years now and the owner seems perfectly fine with mediocrity. They did fire their white DC and I see the pattern but there are wierdos like the Colts who you can’t figure out why they do anything.
