I guess I never really thought about the origin of chili, is it a US thing? I made a slow cooker batch a few weeks ago. A good bowl of chili is up there for one of my favorite comfort foods.

Would you consider frijoles charros to be similar-ish to a type of chili? I saw a video for those recently and thought so, but I haven't tried them. I should try to make some, they looked great.

@finner @flux not really familiar with chili but I would think so. Although you mainly see frijoles charros here as a side dish to something else, and almost never with ground beef, mostly chorizo or bacon in my experience.
