I didn’t realise the lies we have been told about American history. In relation to the Civil War and to slavery. African-Americans are still suffering from wrongs introduced by the very people who are today revered as emancipators and how slavery is still very much alive after the 13th Amendment abolished slavery except as punishment for a crime which was a sop to those states who continued the practice.
