I think the hardest part about managing recovery from this surgery is the unpredictability and the disconnect of physical discomfort and mental bandwidth.
I was feeling physically great yesterday but wasn’t really in a mood to do work so we watched movies instead. But today I was ready to get some stuff done but instead I’m in quite a bit of pain so I guess I’m gonna watch movies instead but for a different reason!

this also emphasizes the importance of taking the full time off work to heal and recover. because while I may have days when I’m feeling physically well, they are also unpredictably interspersed with days when I don’t.
if I were working could I push through this discomfort? yes. would I be taking pain meds instead of just resting? Also yes.
hopefully by the 6 week mark, the unexpected pain days subside.

@eniatitova I'm very glad you were wise enough to take the full six weeks off. And wise enough to not push yourself to do too much during this recovery period, on days when your body or your mind isn't up to it.
Sending wishes for healing to progress well so you're in a better physical/mental place soon.
