Would you care to try and explain the appeal of "reading as a gamified community thing" to me?
Is it to gauge whether a potential read will be worth your time by browsing different reviews by people with seemingly similar taste? Or something else?
(It's okay if you don't want to explain it to me, of course.)

@schluff @tofuwabohu For me, these kind of sites (I'd count letterboxd, for movies, too) have 3 factors why I like them:

@jollysea So, it's kinda an extravert thing?

@schluff For me, it doesn't feel particularly extroverted to just "see" what others are reading/watching. But I've always liked the idea of "passively" sharing what media I consume. But I guess the "remembering"-thing is the most important.

@jollysea So, it's more about the visual presentation?

@schluff It's nice and easy. I can type "Death of Princes" and it shows me the book I am reading right now. After I finished, I click "I'm finished" and it remembers the date. Maybe I see what other people are reading right now or have finished and think "Wow that sounds cool, I'll save that on my 'to-read'-list!"
Also, way nicer place to look at than facebook or something :)
