Standard Mastodon has a built-in limit of 500 characters for posts, and there is no easy way for admins to change this.

However, unofficial versions of Mastodon like Glitch and Hometown let admins easily adjust this limit, as do many non-Mastodon Fediverse servers such as Sharkey.

If you want to post more than 500 characters, some of these servers may have higher limits:
