I have no idea what to do for friends who are spiraling with fear and self-hate, especially in anticipation of worse times ahead. Sometimes I’ve reached out and they are really defensive/angry and I feel like I’ve made it worse. Advice appreciated if you have any.

@shantini Struggling with this too right now. It’s especially difficult when they feel bitter because they don’t have as robust a support system as I have—like, this is me trying to lend it to you in the only way I really can.

@shantini I’m trying to talk a lot of people down by reminding folks that they can make a difference but they need to focus on acting locally in their own communities/circles (think mutual aid networks) and, especially, to slow down their news consumption: it’s designed to continuously (re)traumatize with the visions of chaos yet-to-be that may never actually happen.
