Happy new year! 😀

I don't set goals for the future, but I made my way from the bed to the sofa.. Now I'm counting on my friend espresso to do its magic.

Btw. here is the mainstream tech media ignoring the existence (and the success) of the Fediverse again.

@simonjust As long as Mastodon is not commercial and people have no possibility to monetize their activity here, it will remain the best option. The dark intentions of these other networks, to use people as cattle for their million-dollar businesses and make them addicted to junk content that can be seen from afar.

Bluesky is no different, the naive may believe it is a paradise but it is firmly on its way to the same thing as Mark and Elon.

I don't have an idealistic stance but I am tired of seeing so much rubbish, especially merdefluencers.

I'm happy that we have our little sanctuary that is outside of the mainstream loop, and it doesn't bother me at all that this place might never end up as a "normie space" - things can just exist, we do not have to pursue growth

However I'd really like mainstream media to acknowledge the hard work of the fedi devs, the admins and the overall success of the Fediverse. Having a user base counted in millions is no small feat

@simonjust I prefer that it doesn't attract too much attention because the day that happens this place will be full of vultures. It's already happening, Meta wants to stick its nose in here with Threads and Bluesky is already building bridges to Mastodon. All so that its clients can somehow put their ads and content here.
