Can anyone recommend the best ways to influence the Indiana Department of Transportation to do things besides make bigger highways? I'm not at all sure how to work with an organization of that size.

@benfulton They employ an internal bike/ped coordinator who is an internal advocate for alternatives and who also benefits from outside advocates adding to a chorus of voices.

Currently:

Brandon Burgoa BrBurgoa@indot.in.gov

Also, supporting campaigns for better candidates for governor and the state house who fund and direct the agency.

@markstos @benfulton attend Bicycle Indiana Statehouse Day on Jan 28. Take your state rep and senator on a bike ride and show them the disconnected neighborhoods due to highways. Continually make public comments about induced demand and the problems with expanding roads at every opportunity. Attend public meetings. Testify at state committee meetings, especially transportation and budget. Find common goals (safety, health, econo.ic benefit).
