I think I found a gnome plant. Can anyone confirm whether this is Hemitomes congestum? If not then what is it?

Found in Olympic National Park, deep in a shady forest, around 2,000 ft elevation. Photo taken mid-July 2024.

@ncgleason Looks like some type of groundcone, reminds me of Vancouver groundcone, which I've seen. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kopsiopsis_hookeri It does look like what you suggest, which I think is a cone variety.

@GPJohnston I've never heard of groundcone! Parasite of Salal? How dare they?!?! Such weird stuff out there in our magical forests.
