I find it hard to google, but is there knowledge out there about implementing search qualifiers (like github, google use).

I imagine that the best way of doing this is to strictly define which ones can go together and then store the data that is searchable with these qualifiers pre-filled?

or I could probably apply for GitHub's search engine team and learn there… but that sounds like a lot just for the benefit of a side-project.
