Friendly tip: uBlock Origin has a helpful "Disable all JavaScript on this site" button that effectively removes paywalls from most websites. It works even when tools like 12ft.io are blocked!

@hazelnoot good advice! For patient, skilled, and a bit paranoic people, you can combine it with noScript. It enables a finer control of JavaScript sources, since removing all JavaScript could prevent the page rendering, but paywalls, cokies, etc. often depends from a single source which can be blocked independently from the page url.
